Event: Partnering Against Rape II: Defining Our Relationships and Goals for Working Together
When: April 11, 2007
I was part of an action research team that was focused on building a community coalition to help fight against sexual assault and provide adequate care to assault victims. This was one of the workshops we hosted, called Partnering Against Rape II: Defining Our Relationships and Goals for Working Together, which was a follow-up to our March 7 forum called Partnering Against Rape: A Visioning Session to Build a Community Coalition. Eventually, a coalition was developed called the Greater Lowell Partners Against Sexual Assault (GL-PASA).

The workshop consisted of university students, police officers, lawyers, rape crisis counselors, concerned citizens, &c. We wanted to invite a wide range of community members and service providers. As you can imagine, there was some politics involved!
First, we brainstormed what we felt that sexual assault survivors would need in our community.

Afterwards, we worked in groups to put together an art piece that reflected the needs of survivors.
